Cranleigh STEM is working exclusively with an internationally recognised packaging consultancy business who are currently recruiting for a Test Engineer, to join its team based near Epsom on a permanent basis. As their Test Engineer, you will be based in the Distribution Testing team specialising in assessing the performance of packaging during distribution for a variety of products, helping to reduce waste and promote sustainability. The department designs and delivers bespoke testing solutions, providing scientific insights and tailored recommendations for optimal packaging performance. Test Engineer responsibilities Apply detailed knowledge of testing standards to create test worksheets and accurately record test results. Conduct high-quality testing of packaging using a sound understanding of scientific principles. Engage in training to develop technical and troubleshooting skills, while contributing to the technical development of colleagues. Collaborate with team members to plan and deliver projects requiring diverse inputs. Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and engineers regarding testing processes and equipment performance. Support project managers throughout all project stages, including proposal development and reporting. Interpret and provide clarity on results, addressing challenges and queries raised by project managers. Review reports for accuracy and completeness before submission to clients. Test Engineer requirements Degree level qualification - BEng (or equivalent) in Physics, Materials Science, or a related field, or substantial relevant experience. Possess industry experience in testing; however, candidates with a relevant degree and less experience will also be considered. Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, determination, and resilience, with a demonstrable understanding of technical principles. Experience in vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity testing, with an understanding of their application to various products.
