We are a market-leading environmental sensor design and manufacturing company working across various industry sectors, including Naval Defence, Maritime, and Marine Science & Technology. We are seeking an experienced Electronics Test Engineer to focus on the assembly, testing, and inspection of electro-mechanical instruments from our product range.
Core aspects of the role:
• Conduct electrical/electronic procedures and routines throughout the production process, from component level to final assembly.
• Perform PCBA programming, testing, and inspection.
• Identify and drive resolution of specification or design non-conformances in collaboration with Engineering.
• Conduct optical inspections and fault diagnosis of returned items.
• Interpret engineering drawings, follow standard operating procedures, and adhere to control plans and PFMEAs.
• Record labor movements and track progress using the company’s MRP system.
• Diagnose and resolve faults by adjustment or repair where possible.
• Complete work orders to meet specified delivery timelines.
• Maintain compliance with administrative procedures, including test results and calibration certificates.
• Use IT resources (e.g., Intranet, MRP system) for parts inquiries, stock searches, and other activities.
• Raise non-conformance reports in line with Quality System requirements.
• Collaborate with departments such as Production Engineering, Stores, and Quality to resolve issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S practices and manufacturing engineering improvements.
Experience:
• From circa 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Expertise in assembling and manufacturing products with multi-commodity bills of materials, including machined components, printed circuit board assemblies, wiring looms, and cable assemblies.
• Experience with lenses, windows, and optics is preferred.
Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents (e.g., engineering drawings, circuit diagrams).
• Proven diagnostic fault-finding skills down to component level.
• Competence with testing tools, such as scopes, DVMs, and power supplies.
• Proficiency in soldering and testing PCBs and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Qualifications:
• HNC in Electronics or equivalent qualification in an electronic discipline, plus hands-on experience.
