Theatre Clinical Support Worker - Orthopaedic Elective & Trauma Team

Wirral University Teaching Hospital is seeking to recruit two Clinical Support Workers to join our dynamic operating theatre team. Whether you have experience or are looking to start a career in the operating theatre, WUTH is the organisation for you. We need support workers to deliver and support high standards of perioperative care to our patients. The post holder will be required to work as part of a highly motivated team with real commitment to providing a high standard of patient care. The role requires you to support other members of the theatre team, such as scrub practitioners, Operating Department Practitioners (ODP), surgeons and anaesthetists. The role will also support the management of implantable devices used in theatres and the management of loan trays and equipment, checking and providing assurance to the theatre teams that the kit is available. This will be a rotational role between theatre and device management. The post is with the Orthopaedic team based predominantly at Clatterbridge Hospital. There will be opportunity for cross site working and the role is across 7 days. Main duties of the job
Assist the Registered Nurse in administering direct patient care. Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team. Prioritise own workload. Inform qualified staff of changes in patients' condition or observations. Escort and chaperone patients as appropriate. Undertake some clerical duties such as filing. Undertake ordering of supplies, within agreed stock levels, ensuring stored correctly. Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment. Assist in the safe handling of patients' valuables and property. Adhere to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines. Report any concerns or anxieties that patients disclose to the appropriate health care professional in charge of patient care. Participate in ward safety huddles and raise concerns as required. Actively participate in maintaining patient comfort and support patients to change position to maintain healthy skin integrity. Document when appropriate, position changes within Wirral Millennium and inform nurse in charge of any patient discomfort in a timely manner. Use Trust processes (SBAR handover and Nutritional Board) to identify patients that can safely drink fluids. About us

Good organisational skills Ability to always maintain a professional approach Reliable Able to conform to Trust and departmental policies and procedures Ability to perform under pressure Understand when to seek support and advice Knowledge and Skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Able to work as part of a team Annually attend and participate in Mandatory study days, which include manual handling and basic CPR Disclosure and Barring Service Check
