THE ROLE The Theatre General Manager has overall responsibility for all operational areas of delivery within the Victorian Theatre and serves as the main point of contact and lead for all activities and day-to-day operations in the immediate area of the theatre. This role requires a dynamic and experienced individual to oversee all aspects of theatre operations, from event planning and execution to budget management and team leadership. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and successful operation of this historic venue, delivering exceptional experiences for both clients and audiences. Key responsibilities include: Oversee all operational activities in the Victorian Theatre. Plan and deliver events, liaising with clients, marketing, and sales, managing resources, and ensuring compliance. Hold full P&L responsibility, managing budgets, maximizing income, and ensuring cost-effective staffing. Oversee staff and contractors, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures. Coordinate maintenance with the Facilities Team, scheduling works around events. Manage the Theatre and surrounding site, ensuring readiness, coordinating repairs, and maintaining equipment. THE CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will possess significant experience working in a theatre or similar space with a capacity of over 1200, along with experience in a multi-disciplined event venue with a capacity above 700. A comprehensive understanding of theatre requirements is essential. You will be a highly organized and proactive individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing a team and working collaboratively with various stakeholders. Experience with P&L responsibility, event planning and execution, and venue management is crucial. An IOSH qualification is essential, and a NEBOSH qualification is desirable. Excellent working knowledge of sound and lighting, and the ability to use AutoCAD for event planning are also desirable.
