The Recovery Theatres team has state of the art recovery facilities, attached to the theatres across the Trust.

We have twenty-seven Adult and Obstetrics theatres within Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust covering a diverse range of both elective and emergency work in a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Robotics, Trauma and Orthopaedics and Obstetrics.

We have a position at Theatres Recovery at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital Cramlington.

Main duties of the job

Delivering excellent standards of care and providing patient support throughout the recovery phase, advocating on behalf of the dependent patient. Undertaking the recovery practitioner role, ensuring safe environment and practice is maintained. Working with, and supporting other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Preparation and monitoring of the environment of care, and equipment. Supervising junior colleagues, unregistered staff and students.

Job responsibilities

In partnership with other professionals and disciplines, develop measurable patient care plans/goals. The process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to timely transfer or discharge. Take charge of the clinical needs of a group of defined patients on the ward/department prioritising workload according to changing clinical need over a 24-hour period. Delegate tasks and activities to a range of team members in relation to patient care (for example when taking charge or as link nurse). Ensure nursing documentation is maintained, accurate and timely in line with the Trust standard. To demonstrate awareness and compliance with Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. To work towards promoting this to others. Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients. Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.

Essential

1st Level live NMC Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner qualification Evidence of ongoing practice development Mentorship Qualification or relevant equivalent qualification (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).

Desirable

Recognised teaching qualification Post Registration qualification in specialty Diploma/degree in nursing/or health-related topic
