Theatre Practitioner: Anaesthetics Dual Role

We have a busy 7 theatre operating department within Prince Charles that covers a range of specialties including general surgery, colorectal, maxillary facial, head and neck, orthopaedics, trauma, gynae and obstetrics.

The successful candidate will be expected to work within all specialties delivering patient care at the highest level. Shift work will include days, nights, afternoons and weekends. Primary role will be within anaesthetics but there may be a requirement to work within scrub and recovery where the need arises.

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join the team at Prince Charles Hospital.

You will be a registered Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse with an interest in Anaesthetics. You will actively participate in and maintain the highest standard of care and safety for patients, visitors and staff in the theatres suite. Successful applicants will cover all areas and specialties of the department as well as being a member of the cardiac arrest team, radiology cases as well as MRI procedures.

Registered Operating Department Practitioner or an equivalent qualification (Nursing degree / Registered General Nurse for example; applicant must have anaesthetic qualification if RGN)

Student placement in theatre Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the surgical environment and type of work to be undertaken Anaesthetic Experience

Desirable

Previous experience in a theatre environment
