As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder is responsible for the assessment, evaluation and implementation of care given to patients within the perioperative environment, ensuring that they deliver the highest standard of direct patient care. Also required to assist the surgeons and support patients, with emphasis on patient safety and dignity during all aspects of their procedure. The Day Surgery Unit is nurse led when working in areas such as pre-assessment, discharge and management of post discharge problems with the facilities to link with the visiting Consultants, Anaesthetists, Patient Services and out of hour's services. The post will also link with the Outpatients department to ensure continuity of patient pathway. Ensure efficient communication and education in health promotion and in the absence of the Team Leader the post holder may have responsibility for the operational management of the Day Surgery.
