All About You

Qualifications: Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as an Adult Nurse, or with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).

Clinical Expertise: 12 months experience in a healthcare setting, ideally within recovery, anaesthetics, or surgery. Please do still apply if you are a post-reg Nurse/Theatre Practitioner with 12 months experience

outside

of these specialisms.

Technical Skills: Competence in clinical skills required for post-anaesthesia recovery, including patient monitoring, airway management, and pain management.

Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with the surgical and recovery team, patients, and families.

Organisational Skills: Demonstrated ability to handle a varied caseload and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Professional Development: A commitment to ongoing CPD and learning initiatives to maintain up-to-date practices.

Personal Attributes: A patient-centred approach, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in high-pressure scenarios.

What Will You Be Doing?

Delivering high-quality patient care in the recovery theatre, focusing on post-anaesthesia support and monitoring.

Collaborating closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, and other theatre practitioners to ensure seamless patient transitions from surgery to recovery.

Administering appropriate pain relief, managing airways, and providing comprehensive post-operative care.

Observing and assessing patients' vital signs and overall condition, responding quickly to any changes or complications.

Supporting and educating patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery expectations.

Ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, best practices, and safety standards within the theatre recovery area.

Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and participating in audits, training, and professional development activities.
