We are looking for theatre Practitioners/Nurses to join our Women and Childrens theatres team covering Gynae, Robotic, Obstetric and Breast. Demonstrable experience in theatres is desirable but not essential as attitude to learning and a good work ethic is more essential. We are a major trauma centre caring for all specialities. We are a busy department but our work is both stimulating and rewarding and you will be supported by ourselves and the education team throughout.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 you will be working within the cluster of Theatre Central. Your main duties include assisting the surgical team with all operations and all care required for a patients journey through theatre. The Trust is a 24 hour major trauma centre and scrub practitioners will be expected to participate in the 7 day service, working to meet the service demand. As a team we are dedicated to delivering high quality care for our patients and currently have an exciting and ongoing programme for improvement, which allows us to constantly review our practice and perioperative pathways. Provides high quality care to patients and their families during the perioperative period. Reporting and documenting all relevant patient needs, communicating changes to other health professionals in the multidisciplinary team. Act as Practitioner in charge, in the absence of the Team Leader ensuring efficient allocation of staff and resources. Demonstrates a commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence and play an active role in the introduction of this evidence to improve patient centred care. To engage and interact with patients and their carers, explaining procedures and treatments to gain co-operation, understanding and allay apprehension. Assist with projects to develop and enhance patient care. Participate in the evaluation of patient outcomes, including audit, risk management and infection control. Assists in other clinical areas and speciality theatres if the clinical situation and staffing levels demand. Attend relevant meetings and deliver feedback. Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
Competent in anaesthetics, scrub or recovery Qualifications
Registered with NMC/HCPC Diploma/ Degree in related Healthcare subject or equivalent demonstrable experience Accredited specialist training Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care Disclosure and Barring Service Check
