Middlesbrough PCN Therapy Team) hours per week An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Middlesbrough PCN Therapy Team whilst training to be a qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist under the Apprenticeship scheme at Teesside University. This post would suit an experienced band 3 assistant looking to progress to band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner. The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants. The team has gone through a period of change and is now building links with the three PCNs in the Middlesbrough locality. It is an exciting time to work for this team as we continue to improve our service to meet the needs of our population. We recently achieved a Diamond award in the South Tees Accreditation of Quality of Care (STAQC) which shows the team's commitment to high-quality patient care and rehabilitation. Applicants must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role. Main duties of the job To undertake highly skilled work, support the Allied Health Professionals (AHP) in providing an effective and efficient community rehabilitation service within the framework of clinical governance. To work under supervision and independently to facilitate effective treatment of patients within the service. To carry out basic assessments of non-complex patients as delegated by the AHP. To accept patients delegated by a therapist and be responsible for the delivery of patient care, using clinical judgement and freedom within the scope of practice. This training programme has been designed to support our staff in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the following training sessions: Your Leadership Impact Leading Your Team to Success Service Improvement for Beginners Developing your Service Improvement Skills The leadership and improvement programme aims to: Explore leadership within the NHS Promote Trust values and behaviours Develop your leadership effectiveness and skills Equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and complete service improvements within the scope of your role. After you complete these three and a half days of training, you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team. Qualifications Essential Knowledge acquired through in-house training, short course and experience to NVQ 3 level or equivalent, plus knowledge of specific patient conditions, forms of therapy, acquired through training, experience or NVQ3 in relevant subject. Minimum English and Maths GCSE Level C (or equivalent). Experience Essential Substantial previous experience of working as AHP Band 2/3 in the NHS or Social care. Experience working within the NHS. Desirable Experience within a variety of clinical areas at band 2/3 level. Knowledge & Skills Essential Practical and theoretical knowledge of patient conditions and treatment within relevant specialty. Ability to work independently but also under supervision. Basic moving and handling skills. Basic IT skills. Knowledge of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy roles. Personal Attributes Essential To respond and adapt to the changing needs of the service. Able to travel independently throughout the localities. Ability to work as a team player. Committed to excellent patient care. Ability to efficiently prioritise a workload/time management.
