An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake the role of an AHP Therapy Lead at Bury Care Organisation. You will be joining the Allied Health Professions leadership team for the acute AHP services. You will operationally manage a team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists at Fairfield General Hospital, across a specific clinical area (stroke) and taking the professional lead for Occupational Therapists across the Directorate. There will also be an expectation to work clinically within your professional role and the clinical specialty.

You must have experience and evidence of skills and training required for a band 8a leadership role but support will be provided by the other Therapy Leads and the Assistant Director of AHPs.

You will gain experience of working in a busy and changing environment where there is a proactive approach to evidence-based practice, service development and continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

To provide professional support for specific AHP staff group (Occupational Therapy) and clinical support within specialty (stroke). To provide operational management and evaluation of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy service. To contribute to future plans and service development initiatives. To manage staffing issues, recruitment and retention, workforce and succession planning. To monitor/manage quality indicators and response times for your service. To be responsible for clinical governance issues: to undertake risk assessments to investigate incidents and resolve complaints. The service is working towards a 7-day model and as such you will be expected to be flexible in terms of working patterns including weekends, bank holidays and extra hours if necessary.

Qualifications

Essential

Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent. HCPC Registered.

Desirable

Management Qualification.

Knowledge/experience

Essential

Highly developed specialist knowledge/experience/training to Masters level or equivalent. Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio. Substantial post graduate experience. Extensive experience including a substantial amount of time within a Team leader role. Knowledge of budgetary and finance issues. Ability to manage designated team, setting appraisal and performance targets for staff. Good working knowledge of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management. Understanding of relationships between health and partner organisations.

Skills

Essential

Excellent written/verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate persuasively across a range of professional and other groups. Ability to interpret, critically appraise and utilise information and research to demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based approaches to management. Ability to plan and organise designated service. Ability to interpret a range of clinical, professional, managerial and Trust policies. Effective presentation skills.
