We are looking for an experienced Thermal Plant Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of our Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) on the Isle of Wight. This will be during steady state, start up, shutdown and emergency situations. We provide full training on energy-from-waste facility operations, so you can excel in your role. We're seeking individuals with experience in rotating machinery, monitoring techniques, process control, and/or power generation. Our facility runs 24/7, so you'll enjoy a balanced shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off, including both day and night shifts. Location: Isle of Wight Waste Recovery Park, Newport, PO30 5YS Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain our ground-breaking Isle of Wight Energy from Waste Plant. Employ your maintenance skills to conduct routine maintenance and address emerging defects. Supervise and support Technicians with first-line fault finding, technical advice, and backup during dynamic situations like breakdowns. Coordinate safety measures for work activities, release plant for maintenance, and conduct isolation. Manage site emergencies as an emergency controller, ensuring safety and adherence to local procedures. Maintain shift logs, write and review quality defect and fault reports, and operational work specifications. Contribute to project work and produce detailed plant incident reports for health, safety, and environmental incidents. Provide extra support during shutdowns and breakdowns, and always work in a reliable, skilled, and constructive manner. The Person WAMITAB Level 4 Operator Competence for Managing Thermal Treatment Facilities (desirable). Clear and analytical thinking – able to diagnose technical issues and take responsibility during dynamic situations. Excellent problem-solving ability. Build and maintain professional expertise through networks, learning activities and research, and effectively communicate this to the team. Strive for continuous improvement of systems, processes and services relative to an energy recovery facility. Relevant technical competency. Working to defined KPI deliverables. Evidence of a proficient level of combustion and boiler process experience/knowledge. Demonstrable successful operation of an Energy from Waste facility(s) (desirable).
