Responsibilities

Ensure all TIG Welding projects are completed in conformance with specifications and set time scales. Fabrication and welding of vacuum chambers, components and sub-assemblies as required in line with planned manufacturing operations to defined quality standards and timescales. Work closely with the Lead Technician to enable welding and fabrication objectives to be completed. Complete projects in accordance with planned schedules aligning fabrication and welding workload with machine shop operations. Quality Control evaluations. Set up and running of leak checking operations using mass spectrometry equipment.

Education

Minimum 3 years' experience in TIG Welding.

Skills

Skills in TIG Welding - stainless steel and Mu Metal. Established skillset in metal fabrication and welding including the use of precision measuring equipment. Able to read specified drawings. Comfortable in working to deadlines set by the Lead Technician. Basic knowledge of turning is desired. Follow all Health & Safety regulations. Good constructive communication. Flexible and able to adapt to short term changes. Supports project completion through problem solving.

Demonstrates a flexible attitude- coping with changing priorities within a fast-paced environment. Understands importance of quality and customer needs. Looks for continuous improvement and is efficient with time. Strong ability to prioritise and delegate tasks. Works to the '5s' programme. Follows all Health and Safety regulations.
