Job Description: Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Tool Maker to join their growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, assembling, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and fixtures essential for the build and installation of friction welding machinery. This position involves working with mechanical sub-assemblies, collaborating closely with design and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacture, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, and fixtures for bespoke machine builds. Fit and assemble various machine unit assemblies (e.g., spindles, clamps, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems). Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Operate machine shop equipment such as millers, lathes, grinders, and CNC machinery. Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure tight tolerances are met. Participate in upfront project planning meetings to provide input on tooling designs and improvements. Perform onsite tool installations, upgrades, and repairs at customer premises in the UK and worldwide. Communicate issues and solutions to the build and engineering teams effectively.

Role Requirements: Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team. Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and fluid schematics. Experience Needed: Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds or BTEC). Previous experience as a Tool Maker, Machine Tool Fitter, or in bespoke machine building. Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems. Hands-on experience with machine shop equipment. Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement.
