This is a senior, dynamic, customer-facing role where you will take full responsibility and ownership for the delivery of a wide range of traffic engineering projects including design (traffic signals, traffic engineering, enforcement, and electric vehicle infrastructure), traffic modelling, report writing and specialist traffic signal activities, such as adaptive control validation and UTC configuration. You will be responsible for these projects throughout the full project life cycle, from the early stages of bids and tenders to customer requirements capture, technical delivery, financial project management, and ongoing customer support.

This role will require close working with other parts of the Consultancy Services team and the wider business, providing detailed technical traffic engineering experience across a range of disciplines. This is a technical role that also requires daily liaison with our customer base. This senior role involves working on complex traffic engineering projects without supervision and managing projects through to customer approval.

Areas of Responsibility and Tasks

Be responsible for the Health & Safety and professional development of your direct reports (where applicable) Deliver to a high standard a wide range of traffic engineering projects across the UK in accordance with current national/local standards, guidance, and best practice Deliver traffic engineering projects in accordance with ergonomic, economic, and sustainable principles Assessment and mitigation of risks associated with traffic engineering projects Travel to site visits, validations, and customer meetings with overnight stays where appropriate Preparation of technical reports and specifications Technical checking/approval of traffic engineering schemes before delivery to customers Preparation of consultancy/design quotations Project management and financial tracking

Knowledge & Skills

The key competencies and capabilities for this role are: High level of communication skills, both verbal and written, and working collaboratively Ability to solve complex traffic engineering problems and manage customer expectations Ability to achieve objectives with strict deadlines and manage your own and others' workload

Required Experience

To have a technical, in-depth understanding and proven track record of the following traffic engineering competencies: Traffic signal design fundamentals and UK standards/specifications Traffic engineering software including AutoCAD, with KeySignals, and modelling software such as LinSig or Transyt In-depth knowledge of traffic signal products from across the industry In-depth knowledge and proven track record using systems such as UTC or UTMC In-depth knowledge and proven track record of adaptive control strategies such as SCOOT or MOVA, including experience with setup and on-site validation Experience undertaking Factory and Site Acceptance Testing

Educational Requirements

HNC/HND/Degree level in engineering in a related subject is preferred or have relevant experience
