You are currently looking for a career change, have you always wanted to work in the healthcare sector? If so, then we have an opportunity for you to become a trainee Ward Care Assistant. We are happy to look at applicants with little to zero experience.

Working as a Trainee Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group Shepton Mallet, you’ll help provide support to the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to patients in a safe and caring environment. Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding. Shifts are as follows: Monday to Sunday, 7am to 7.30pm with occasional Night Shifts, which are 7.00pm to 7.30am and will include bank holidays.

Welcoming patients to the ward area. Answering the telephone, recording and delivering messages accurately to the appropriate person. Assisting in the ordering and monitoring of stores and stock rotation, and supporting other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Assisting in the making of beds, handling of bed linen, and disposal of used linen. Aiding in the infection control of the department/treatment centre. Accurately monitoring and recording the weight, pulse, temperature, and blood pressure of patients and ensuring any abnormalities or changes in patients' conditions are reported immediately to a Registered Nurse. Assisting with the moving and handling of patients, ensuring the use of aids and equipment. What we’ll look for in you We are looking for someone who is willing to work hard, learn, and develop in the role, but most importantly someone who understands the value of teamwork and a good work ethic.

The ideal applicant will have: An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and be willing to undertake training to gain further clinical skills. Experience or a good understanding of HCA duties and responsibilities. The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
