The role: In a commercial organisation which thrives on international imports and exports, the Trainee Customs Administrator is central to the company's logistical operations. As a Trainee Customs Administrator, full training will be provided by our in-house customs team, meaning no previous freight or customs experience is required, making this a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to embark on a challenging and rewarding career with the prospect of achieving recognised industry qualifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Customs Manager with: Preparing and processing import/export customs declarations using Descartes, Destin8 / CNS Accurate documentation checks - Invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin Creation of T1/T2 transit documents for shipments under customs control travelling to/from the EU Liaising with colleagues and overseas agents to collect information and documentation Working closely with our operations team to ensure timely movement of goods Communicating effectively and efficiently with carriers and our transport team to track shipments and resolve any clearance delays Skills required: Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Ability to work both on your own initiative and within a team framework Customer service focused and determined to exceed customers’ expectations Attention to detail Good organisational skills Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment Experience of working to deadlines in a time-sensitive environment Data entry experience Willingness to learn and gain further experience within the industry Benefits 40-45 hours per week (to be discussed at interview), flexibility essential.
