Job title: Freight Import Trainee Location: Exeter, EX5 Salary: 24,000 - 26,000 Hybrid working after probation and training Freight Import Trainee Job Overview My client is expanding its Operations Team and is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join us as a Trainee Freight Clerk. This entry-level role offers comprehensive training and a fantastic opportunity to develop within the logistics and freight forwarding industry. As a Trainee Freight Clerk, you will work closely with both our overseas and UK domestic partners, supporting various operational activities while ensuring the smooth flow of shipments and timely communication with our customers. Freight Import Trainee Responsibilities

Following training, your key responsibilities will include: Liaising with overseas and UK domestic partners to obtain cost estimates and book shipments. Processing Customs Clearance on behalf of customers, ensuring all relevant documentation and compliance requirements are met. Monitoring the status of shipments and proactively updating customers with any necessary information or changes. Assisting with general operational tasks, ensuring the smooth handling of freight-related activities. Supporting the team in achieving departmental goals and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Experience with air, road or sea freight. Invoicing and liaising with customers. Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Previous experience in logistics or freight forwarding is advantageous but not required; full training will be provided. Basic knowledge of Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. A proactive, team-oriented attitude and a desire to learn and grow in the freight and logistics industry.
