is a national charity and the membership association representing children’s day nurseries across the UK, providing information, training, and support to ensure the best possible care for young children. NDNA is the voice of the day nursery sector, an integral part of the lives of nearly one million children and their families. NDNA collaborates with local and national government to develop an environment in which quality early years education and care can flourish. The Trainee Nursery Assistant will be supported by the NDNA Project Coordinator and supervised by the setting where they are assigned. The Trainee Nursery Assistant will initially undertake a 4-week paid training programme, delivered remotely, to provide the necessary skills prior to a 12-week paid work placement within a childcare setting to support securing further employment or training. The post holder will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure. Main duties The main duties of the post holder will be: Support the care and early education of all children placed in the setting. Work effectively as part of a team and contribute ideas to support the smooth operation of the setting. Support effective communication and liaison between the setting, parents, family members, other carers (e.g., childminders), and any external professionals. Support the delivery of a programme of activities suitable for the age range and developmental stage of each child in conjunction with other staff. Be alert to the personal and care needs of individual children and address these as required, e.g., feeding, toileting, sleep, play, etc. Follow and adhere to all policies and procedures. Work flexibly as directed across the nursery and help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs, e.g., cleansing of equipment and cleaning of premises. Maintain and respect confidentiality of any information received. Behave in ways that maintain the reputation of the nursery and uphold high standards at all times. Specific childcare tasks: Support in the preparation and completion of activities to suit each child's stage of development, interests, and needs. Engage in mealtimes and ensure that these are times of pleasant social sharing and conversation. Support in washing and changing children as required. Job Types:
