Main Responsibilities:

Work under the supervision of Clinical Pharmacists and Clinicians following agreed practice prescribing standard operating procedures.

Describe how patients may contact the practice regarding their health needs (phone, letter, in person, online).

Understand the roles and responsibilities of different clinicians in the primary care team.

Request the issue of acute and repeat medications.

Support the delivery of 48-hour prescription turnaround.

Collaborate with other members of the prescribing team.

Observe clinical decision-making and prescribing processes in GP, Nurse, or Pharmacist consultations.

Understand the consent process for prescribing.

Differentiate between acute and repeat medication issuance.

Perform checks related to repeat medicines requests and take necessary actions.

Familiarize with the FP10 or EPS prescription process and tracking.

Recommend cost-effective strategies for supplying medicines in primary care.

Understand and initiate repeat dispensing after discussion and authorization by a GP or Pharmacist.

Conduct a medicines waste audit.

Understand drug monitoring according to shared care guidelines.

Reconcile medication changes from clinic letters and discharge summaries.

Answer queries from staff and secondary/tertiary care as necessary.

Understand the range of drugs held in primary care and ordering processes.

Support clinical pharmacists in delivering clinical pharmacy services.

Monitor and encourage safe and cost-effective prescribing.

Provide support to the administrative team and training as needed.

Maintain confidentiality while managing information and data.

Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the healthcare team.

Promote and enhance the reputation of IntraHealth.

Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Professional Groups.

Work as part of the practice team and support colleagues.

Comply with Health & Safety policies and report issues accordingly.

Participate in learning and development activities.

Ensure equal treatment in accordance with the IntraHealth Equal Opportunities Policy.
