Job Summary An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 5 trainee to join our friendly team at the lung function unit Castle Hill Hospital and Community Diagnostic Hub, Hull University Teaching Hospital Trust. We are a busy unit performing diagnostic tests for patients from Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire. We run a well-established lung function, sleep and CPAP service, with plans to establish CPET service. Current recruitment opportunities arise to meet the new demand at the Community Diagnostic Hub in Hull city centre. Staff will be rostered to cover both sites. Successful applicants will help service provision of lung and sleep diagnostics to ARTP standards for in/outpatient services. We are looking for a highly motivated, forward-thinking team member who can demonstrate competency and accuracy in respiratory investigations. The post will also require the successful applicant to attend Sheffield Hallam University to undertake a BSc in Healthcare Science (Respiratory and Sleep). The post holder must be reliable, accurate and work to high professional standards, in line with ARTP. The information measured is used to aid in diagnosis of disease and influence treatment regime. The post holder will also be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of equipment, including those intended for domiciliary use. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be trained in the following to work independently: Spirometry Flow volume loops Lung volume measurements using Nitrogen washout technique Relaxed Vital Capacity Gas transfer measurements Lung volume measurements using body plethysmography Airways resistance measurements using the body plethysmograph Supine Spirometry MIPS & MEPS FENO (Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide) 6 Minute Walk Test Mannitol Challenge Bronchodilation tests Diagnostic Sleep Studies e.g. Simple Polysomnography & overnight Pulse Oximetry. Measuring varying parameters CPAP Servicing and Set Up Hypoxic challenge testing Any other tests as deemed necessary by the Lead Clinical Physiologists. About us
