Our trainees: Complete a comprehensive induction as a cohort to gain a detailed understanding of the pathway to qualification, and the pivotal role our Trainees have in supporting IBB’s culture and ongoing success. Complete four six-month seats to ensure they have adequate exposure and experience in different areas of law. Are supported in setting meaningful objectives upon joining each seat and take responsibility for ensuring they complete two appraisals per seat with their Training Supervisor. Rotate seats in April and October each year. Have seat opportunities across all office locations and practice areas; secondment opportunities may also arise from time to time. Are carefully supervised by appointed Trainee Supervisors who are responsible for the allocation and monitoring of the trainees’ workloads, work quality and professional development. IBB Trainees will gain experience in both contentious and non-contentious work by completing four six-month seats gaining exposure and experience in a minimum of three distinct areas of law. Regular informal and formal appraisals conducted throughout the PORT/QWE will ensure professional and personal development is recorded and any developmental needs are identified and can be addressed. IBB will support its Trainees completing a PORT through the completion of the Professional Skills Course and those completing QWE through any additional training prescribed by the SRA throughout the duration of the training period. IBB’s diverse practice areas and size enable the Firm’s Trainees to undertake a variety of good quality work in addition to having early responsibility and client exposure which enables our Trainees to ascertain their strengths and make informed decisions on which area of law to qualify into. Please note depending on the seats you are allocated you may need to work from any of the IBB’s offices. Whilst core office hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday on occasion business need may require work to be undertaken outside of these hours. Key Responsibilities

This role requires the post holder to assist and support the Trainee Supervisor and the wider team with workload in addition to managing their own small case load under the direct supervision of the Trainee Supervisor, Training Principal and Human Resources. Trainee Solicitor responsibilities include but are not limited to: Compliance and accomplishment of the SRA training and admission requirements. Maintenance of a training record detailing work experience. Successful completion of all mandatory training. Keeping abreast of developments in law and practice to maintain professional competence. Time recording and achievement of set targets. Reviewing and drafting of legal documentation and correspondence. File administration and management. Taking ownership of scheduling and running quarterly trainee meetings. Participating in the annual trainee induction and project. Involvement in firm-wide and team Marketing and Business Development initiatives. Undertaking legal research. Drafting. Attendance and recording of client meetings / client interactions. Conducting client interviews. Making applications to the court. Attending court and tribunals if required. Requesting information from professional experts. Responding to routine client and third party inquiries. Adherence to all internal procedures. Maintaining confidentiality. Provision of efficient administrative support. Any ad-hoc tasks as required. Person Specification

Qualifications A good standard of academic achievement with a 2:1 at degree level preferred (law or non-law degree) unless evidence of extenuating circumstances can be provided. Successful completion of the Legal Practice Course or Solicitors Qualifying Exam prior to commencement of training. Skills and Experiences Enthusiasm and continued commitment to developing a career in law demonstrable through academics, previous employment, work experience or voluntary roles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A high level of IT proficiency. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills. Willingness to proactively take ownership of own learning and development. Remuneration

The starting salary is £28,500 per annum increasing to £29,500 per annum on the commencement of the second year of training.
