Main duties of the job

Thepost holder will be responsible for the management of training and educationacross the Pathology CSU (Approx. 750 FTE).This will include programmes for Healthcare Science, BiomedicalSupport Worker and A+C staff, the individual will also build up relationshipswith their counter parts across WYATT, and in particular the proposed NewPathology Partnership (NPP) between LTHT, Calderdale Foundation andMid-Yorkshire Trust in preparation of further service consolidation, andharmonisation of training practices. Thepost holder will be responsible for liaising and working with colleaguesacross other Trusts and CSUs within Leads where the Health Care ScienceWorkforce is deployed to ensure the sharing of best practice and educationalresources. Thepost holder must have an understanding of educational planning, delivery andevaluation and associated challenges. It is essential that they haveknowledge and understanding of the NHS Constitution and NHS Improvement goalsand policies, the NHS modernisation agenda, the wider health economy andInsight into the hierarchy of the NHS structure, national and local targets.The postholder will be expected to understand the transformation objective ofthe national genomics programme and the key importance of education indelivering this agenda. PRINCIPALDUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Lead the delivery of education andtraining across the Pathology CSU Chair the Pathology Training andDevelopment. Contribute to the planning,delivery and evaluation work as a member of the Pathology operations, andTrust wide Healthcare Scientist Education Group. Utilisation of theireducation and training knowledge and experiences to formalise education andtraining strategies in retention and recruitment of staff. Undertake a training needsassessment (TNA), in collaboration with local education partners of staffacross the CSU, working with NPP and WYATT partners, including formaleducational profiling of individuals, focus groups and surveys Plan, develop, implement andmonitor education strategies to address the requirements of the TNA forPathology at LTHT Work with the clinical director andHead of Profession of the Pathology CSU to establish and maintain a databaseof educational development and needs of staff to facilitate accuratetargeting of educational opportunities and research fellowships Co-ordinate local access andappropriate allocation of places across the CSU and working collaborativelywith WYATT Partners to secure HEE education and other resources andapplications to nationally delivered workshops and programmes Co-ordinate the development,implementation, evaluation and reporting of education materials for patientsand the public around pathological sciences Co-ordinate patient and publicaccess to HEE education resources Organise, co-ordinate and deliverlocal partnership training with NPP partners Develop and support nursing,medical and laboratory staff to deliver local partnership concerningpathological sciences Working with OrganisationDevelopment in the production and support of training programmes relevant tothe Pathology CSU staff Organise and disseminate theutilisation of HEE educational resources, including targeted educationalresources. Co-ordinate and organise access to individuals or areas ofnational expertise for staff. Share best practice and expertiseacross the WYAAT and NPP network and across the HEE education and trainingnetwork Work with the HEE EducationProgramme team on the transformation evaluation projects and establish localsystems to measure the impact of interventions Work with local and nationaleducation teams to develop, deliver and evaluate educational programmes andworkshops for managers and commissioners of services. Work with the HEE EducationProgramme team to develop resources, and provide support and expertise fortheir planning, commissioning and implementation across the education andtraining system Oversight and leadership of theon-going implementation ProfilerLive training system across the CSU,supported from a technical standpoint by Pathology IT. Allstaff are responsible for working with their colleagues to maintain andimprove the quality of services provided to our patients and other serviceusers. This includes complying at alltimes with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Policies, including Healthand Safety policies, in particular by following agreed safe workingprocedures, and reporting incidents using the Trust Incident Reportingsystem. Thejobholder must comply at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHSTrust Infection Control policies, in particular by practising UniversalInfection Control Precautions. Hand hygiene must be performed before andafter contact with patients and their environment. Thejobholder must comply with all policies and procedures designed to ensureequality of employment and that services are delivered in ways that meet theindividual needs of patients and their families.
