The standalone role of Transactions Team Leader is vital as it requires interactions with external and business wide customers, including the Executive Team, as well as responsibility for the delivery of transactional financial services in relation to Rent Income, Payments, and Balance Sheet control. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about delivering exceptional service and building strong business relationships across the organisation.
The post holder finds opportunities to affect change, with the authority to drive continuous service, system, and process improvements, aimed at maximising the team’s efficiency and performance, whilst enhancing customer satisfaction. Leads, upskills, and organises coverage across the team of four finance officers ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
A Day in the Life
Overall responsibility for the accurate and timely posting of rent debits and rent income received in the Dynamics system. Designing controls and maintaining reconciliations to verify the accuracy of these postings.
Expert user of the P2P AP system (P2P), ensuring processing, scanning and payment of invoices by the team in accordance with financial regulations and Wandle’s policy. Checking BACS report for errors before approving.
Manage the reconciliation of supplier statements ensuring outstanding invoices are processed in accordance with customer experience standards.
Overseeing regulatory and internal controls including the completion of balance sheet reconciliations to deadline. Review of these reconciliations, detecting missing, duplicate, or untimely transactions and ensuring appropriate sign off and excellent quality supporting documentation are attached.
Complete Bank reconciliations and ensure they are reviewed and approved by the Treasurer.
Regulate internal credit card returns, ensuring card holders meet month end timeframes.
Contribute to the development, testing and implementation of new systems and processes such as staff expenses through P2P, if required.
Gatekeeper of the purchase order system, ensuring all departments follow agreed policy and procedures when raising orders, communicating issues effectively for timely resolution.
Delivery of training to the business ensuring staff are equipped to efficiently and effectively use the purchase order system.
Ensure the supplier database is up to date whilst enforcing controls to avoid duplication and incorrect payments made to suppliers.
Maintenance of the required delegated authorities in the system, as approved by the Board.
Validate and approve all refunds in the Dynamics system daily to ensure interface to the SUN finance system.
Monitoring relevant and effective KPIs for the team, such as no unresolved queries for more than one week in the inboxes, to ensure finance officers are contributing directly to the success of the business and are motivated to perform at their best.
Contribute to the production of statutory reports (eg. NROSH) and end of year audit schedules.
Engaging and influencing external and internal stakeholders across all communication channels, promoting positive and coherent messages, reflecting Wandle’s vision, mission, and values.
What You Will Need
Minimum AAT qualified (qualified by experience will be considered)
3 years finance experience in the social housing sector
Sales and purchase ledger experience
Attention to detail
Good leadership skills and a focus on good team management
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and build strong internal and external networks
Excellent time management and organisational skills
