We have an opportunity for a Line Manager to join our transport team. The successful candidate will support and assist the Depot Transport Manager by organising and managing specific elements of the transport function so that the depot targets are met in such a manner as to provide the best possible service to our retailers and customers through continuous improvement and engagement. To assist in the management of the transport operation, to maintain the required service levels to our retailers, within budgetary constraints and operational KPI targets. Manage and conduct work activities in such a way as to promote, proactively engage and ensure the safety, health, and welfare at work of all employees. Manage, motivate, and engage the transport team to deliver a best-in-class service to our customers. Deal with drivers, suppliers and stores on delivery and collection queries. Support the Depot Transport Manager with the ongoing development and implementation of an effective, efficient and cost competitive transport function. Implement and operate transport software system Stratum Manage drivers and operations to create high performing teams, continuous improvement and a high performing culture. Manage driver dispatch and debriefs. Monitor and assess KPIs and where appropriate implement timely corrective action. Maintain a working environment in line with Road Transport, Health & Safety, Food Safety & Quality legislation and ensure that employees are trained accordingly. Liaise and work with other departments to ensure that product delivery meets deadline. Experience, Skills & Education The successful candidate will have the following: Excellent communication , people management and customer service skills. Experience in a logistics business which has multiple weekly deliveries Experience of managing in a busy transport department in a high volume/turnover business. Good organisational and administration skills with the ability to solve problems in a fast-moving environment. High level of computer literacy and ability to interpret and analyse data. Thorough knowledge of distribution operations including specific processes such as H&S and HACCP etc. Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Legislation. Customer focused and driven. Desirable criteria: CPC holder, if applicant currently doesnt hold CPC willing to work towards completing CPC course within the job role. The ideal candidate should be a team player, be flexible and have the ability to maintain focused whilst under pressure. Have the ability to work on your own initiative, be self-motivated and have a consistent work methodology. Experience in a similar type role or in a position that demonstrates the above skills will be an advantage. Musgrave is an equal opportunities employer.
