Job Description

My client is seeking an experienced Transport Team Leader to join their team on a permanent basis. Role You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a small team, ensuring high levels of compliance. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day activities of the team to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Monitor and ensure all team activities comply with company policies, legal standards, and industry regulations. Act as a point of escalation for operational issues and resolve them promptly. Create, manage, and adjust drivers’ schedules to optimize route efficiency and meet operational needs. Plan routes to ensure timely deliveries and minimize downtime or delays. Account for driver holidays, absences, and emergency cover by liaising with agencies or internal teams. Maintain accurate control over agency driver usage, including recording hours and assignments. Ensure legal compliance with driving hours, rest breaks, and safety standards. Coordinate with agencies to secure drivers when necessary, ensuring proper vetting and documentation. Perform regular checks to ensure processes align with legal requirements (e.g., tachograph laws, vehicle maintenance records). Conduct audits or reviews to maintain compliance with transportation regulations and internal standards. Stay updated on relevant legislative changes affecting transportation and logistics. Maintain detailed and accurate records of schedules, agency usage, and compliance checks. Generate reports for management to track efficiency, compliance, and operational performance. Provide guidance and support to drivers and team members, fostering a collaborative and compliant working environment. Address concerns or queries from team members to ensure their needs align with operational priorities. Key Skills and Qualifications: Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail. Knowledge of transportation regulations and legal compliance requirements. Proficiency in route planning software or scheduling tools. Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage a team effectively. Ability to adapt to dynamic operational demands while maintaining accuracy in processes.
