The role The University of Bristol has a strong history of fostering translational perinatal research. The Department of Translational Health and Life Sciences, Bristol Medical School has recently appointed a new professorial position for Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine, located at Southmead Hospital. We are now seeking to appoint a trial portfolio lead to support the perinatal research. Perinatology describes the interface of Obstetric and Neonatal Medicine. What will you be doing? The successful applicant (henceforth “they”) will take a key role with planning and conducting world-leading perinatal research. They will assist the Professor with advocating collaborative perinatal research projects throughout the departments of The University and its partners, with an aim to develop an 'early life' BRC theme at The University of Bristol. They will assist with developing a portfolio of perinatal studies and obtaining peer-reviewed research funding. They will be supporting local research governance and help with optimising research processes. Horizon scanning for competitive grant opportunities (departmental, government and philanthropic), drafting research proposals for project and grant applications, grant submission and assisting with administration are key tasks, together with engaging with PPIE, creating study materials, data management and preliminary data analysis. You should apply if you want to play an active part in making a real difference to the lives of many sick newborn babies and their families through cutting-edge world-leading perinatal research; you want to be part of the very positive and energetic research environment between Obstetrics and Neonatal Medicine at St Michael’s Hospital and Southmead Hospital, and throughout The University of Bristol; you want to help develop an 'early life' research theme at The University of Bristol to deliver a bespoke portfolio of perinatal studies; you like working collaboratively with the Bristol Trials Centre (BTC) and other perinatal trial centres in the South-West of England, and beyond; you enjoy drafting project proposals and applications, assisting with research grant writing and grant submission and administration; you are versed in independent data management and preliminary data analysis, to assist with studies from idea-inception to results publication; you have experience with patient and public involvement and engagement and engaging with local communities with a diverse social and ethnic mix, especially the underserved communities and ethnic minority groups; you have experience with generating study materials and with preparing presentations for to communicate scientific content with the public as well as professional communities; you are familiar with and enjoy communication with scientific communities using different forms of print-, electronic- and social media; you enjoy planning and setting up scientific and educational meetings to showcase research and to boost collaborations; you enjoy attending scientific meetings and reading the scientific literature as horizon scanning for new research projects and funding opportunities; Additional information Contract type: Open ended (Fixed funding until 31/01/2028) This advert will close at 23:59 UK time on 28/01/2025 Our strategy and mission We recently launched our
