Whipps Cross Hospital
Applicants are invited to join the General Surgery Department at Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. We are seeking to appoint a FY1 to join our friendly department, based in an associate teaching hospital which is dedicated to teaching and training.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be working alongside the surgical team to provide clinical care to patients whilst also using the post as a learning forum to maintain good medical practice, and to strive towards maintaining one's own personal development through learning, teaching, and managerial opportunities. The duties of the post are subject to review from time to time in the light of changing requirements of the service. The post holder may be asked to perform exceptional irregular commitments outside of normal rostered duties as are essential to maintain the emergency medical service.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge
MB ChB or equivalent
Full GMC Registration
Experience
Familiarity with the UK NHS structure
Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure
Caring attitude to patients
Personal Attributes
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Able to work within a multidisciplinary team
Commitment to quality care
Involvement in clinical audit
Ability to organize own CPD
Enthusiasm in teaching medical students and nurses.
Specific requirements
The post holder will be required to work shifts, on call, and flexible hours.
