Ranked as one of the top private client and charity law firms in the country, Wilsons is thrilled to be included in The Times Best Law Firms 2025 for another year running. About the team: Our private client team acts for clients with business interests, landed and inherited wealth, foreign domiciliaries, UK and offshore trustees, and non-resident individuals with links to the UK. Services include tax planning, estate and succession planning, asset structuring, UK and offshore trust formation and advice, wills and trusts, and estate administration and probates and intestacies valued at up to £50m. About the work: Initially, you'll be managing trusts, taking on a number of existing matters, building a relationship with all the parties involved, and reviewing the trust. There will be multiple opportunities within this to provide broader tax advice. Additionally, the role will involve providing a broader tax advisory role to clients from across the firm. It is anticipated that over time the role will involve more of the latter tax advisory work, but the trust management work will remain an important element. The trust management role will become as high level as possible and more junior fee earners will deal with more of the day-to-day work. Responsibilities: Provide tax advice to settlors, trustees, beneficiaries, and protectors. Advise trustees on their role and responsibilities. Advise on and manage a full range of trusts including personal injury trusts. Arrange for others to draft supplemental trust documentation including advances, appointments, changes of trustees, and a full range of other types of transactions between trustees and beneficiaries. Arrange for others to prepare wills and lasting powers of attorney. Supervise and check production of accounts for trusts and prompt their production. Deal with investments including beauty parades and monitoring performance. Check and supervise the completion of tax returns for trustees and prompt their completion. Oversee and prompt the dealing with trust compliance work such as registering and updating the register of trusts with HMRC, FATCA, and CRS. Ensure the production of board minutes when necessary for Wilsons Trust Corporation. Overall manage a number of trusts and provide a very proactive service to clients in all spheres of private client work. Provide high-level tax advice to clients, frequently in relation to matters other members of the firm are working on. Supervise and mentor junior staff. Work collaboratively as part of a team and help move the team forward. Engage in business development, education, and training. About Wilsons: Our almost 300-year heritage, combined with lawyers who are recognised leaders in their fields, enables Wilsons to provide a unique combination of skills and experience to our clients. Our lawyers are dedicated to ensuring a detailed understanding of their clients’ interests and a seamless working relationship across the different specialities of the practice. Over the years, Wilsons has organically grown and is proud to be a people-focused firm with 30 partners and circa 150 employees.
