Job summary

A full-time post as Trust Grade Registrar in Cardiology with a subspecialty interest is available now at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit provides a service covering all aspects of Cardiology and this post will allow some subspecialisation training - but no access to training in coronary intervention.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will participate in the service's inpatient and outpatient activities. The Registrars operate within a full-shift system with 12 whole-time equivalents. Subspecialty experience will be dependent on the NTN group and availability of opportunities but may include:

Transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echo

Heart Failure ward rounds and inpatient care

In-house and outreach specialist outpatient clinics

MDT meetings (genetics, cardiomyopathy, TAVI etc)

EP studies

Cardiac CT lists

We endeavour to ensure our trust grade registrars do receive training and experience beyond service provision in an area that will enhance their CV and career development, and facilitate applications for NTN positions.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training

Essential

GMC Full Licence to Practice

MRCP or equivalent qualification

Desirable

Higher Medical Degree

CCST in Cardiology or equivalent

Experience

Essential

Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience at Specialist Registrar level.

Evidence of achievement of ST2 competencies relevant to cardiology

Good relationships and communications with patients, relatives, and colleagues

Desirable

Interest in clinical research with publications

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Leadership and organisational skills

Good spoken and written English

Desirable

Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS

Computing skills: ability to use word processor, spreadsheet programme and web browser.
