Description As a Trust Senior / Assistant Manager, your key responsibilities will involve managing a portfolio of trust and estate clients, preparing annual trust accounts and self-assessment tax returns for family trusts, and handling day-to-day trust record keeping and administration. You'll calculate tax liabilities, advise on tax payments, and correspond with clients, beneficiaries, and HMRC. Additionally, you'll assist managers with routine trust planning, including the utilization of losses and distributions to beneficiaries, while ensuring all annual compliance work is completed for your own client portfolio. You'll also play an important role in training and mentoring Apprentices, ensuring high-quality work and maintaining client relationships. Experience with charitable trusts is advantageous, but not essential. Knowledge of tools such as CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax is a plus, though training will be provided. We're looking for someone with at least 2-3 years' experience in private client services, ideally with a background in trust accounting and administration. The ideal candidate will be qualified or working towards ACCA, CTA, or STEP, and have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative, proactive attitude. A willingness to learn, adapt to new technologies, and work with minimal supervision is also essential. Profile The successful candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience working within a private client department, ideally with a background in trust accounting and administration. You'll be qualified or working towards ACCA, CTA, or STEP, with a strong understanding of trust accounting, tax planning, and trust administration. A keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are key traits. You should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a team player willing to collaborate and mentor junior staff. Strong communication skills are essential for liaising with clients, beneficiaries, and HMRC, as well as for providing clear advice. Experience with charitable trusts is advantageous, but not essential, and a proactive, resilient attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies will set you apart. Strong IT skills, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work, are also important for success in this role.
