About Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People
Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People exists to promote the general welfare of Deaf, Deaf-Blind, Deafened, and Hard of Hearing People and to co-operate with other organisations having the same or similar objects and aims.
Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People has undergone several changes in the last 18 months with a new Chief Officer leading the organisation alongside new members of staff implementing internal changes to ensure we are fit to meet the challenges affecting the third sector.
We are keen to build on this work by recruiting new members to our Board of Trustees who want to help this small local organisation achieve its potential matching the ambitions that our Chief Officer has. Therefore we are seeking to appoint a number of Trustees to play a key role in the leadership and governance of the charity.
Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People is a registered charity with Charity Commission. The charity transferred all assets and liabilities to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in December 2022 and its current registration number is 1201337. The old registration number is 224944 where all of our previous annual accounts can be viewed. We expect to release our 2023/2024 annual report and accounts in the coming months under our new legal entity as a CIO.
