We’re now seeking a Trustee with Finance expertise to be our Treasurer and help us shape a brighter future for those we serve. Our key current projects include: Windrush in Devon. We celebrate, educate and commemorate the Windrush generations and their contributions to our country! Cultural Champions. Devon residents with a different culture and heritage to most of the population; trained to share their stories with pupils and communities. Youth Cultural Champions. Training young people from different ethnic backgrounds to increase their self-confidence and be proud of their culture. Telling our stories, Finding Our Roots, Devon’s Multi-Cultural History – in Honiton and Ilfracombe. Funded by the Lottery Heritage Fund – our third such project. DDE Community Programme. A regular series of public events on topical issues. About the role/what we are looking for As a Trustee with Finance skills, we will ask you to: Ensure compliance with The Charities Commission, Companies House, and other relevant governing bodies. Review project budgets and provide financial insights to guide decision-making by the Trustees based on the financial situation of DDE. Offer guidance and support on Finance policies, processes, and financial controls to staff. Report to the Trustees to give a clear picture of the financial position on a regular basis. Skills required We’re looking for a dedicated individual with some of the following: Experience of working in a charity or small business finance department. An understanding of charity governance. Commitment to our values and mission. Time commitment: 6-8 trustee meetings a year, usually in the evenings at DDE’s Exeter office. Presentation of past period finances at Trustee meetings. Preparation of annual accounts and filing of annual return to The Charities Commission and Companies House. Involvement in DDE activities, depending on availability.
