Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a HGV Tyre Fitter on behalf of one of our clients. An HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Tyre Fitter is responsible for fitting, repairing, and maintaining tires on large commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses. The role involves working with a variety of tire types, sizes, and configurations, ensuring that vehicles are equipped with safe and roadworthy tires.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Mounting and demounting tires on HGVs using appropriate tools and equipment. Balancing tires to ensure even wear and optimal performance. Selecting and installing the correct type and size of tires based on vehicle specifications. Conducting thorough inspections of tires for signs of wear, damage, or irregularities. Identifying and diagnosing tire-related issues, such as punctures, bulges, and tread wear. Assessing the overall condition of tires to determine the need for replacement or repair. Performing puncture repairs and patching damaged tires. Rotating tires to promote even tread wear and extend tire life. Conducting preventive maintenance on tires, including pressure checks and alignments. Interacting with customers to understand their tire-related concerns and requirements. Providing recommendations and advice on tire selection, maintenance, and replacement. Addressing customer inquiries and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Maintaining accurate records of tire services performed, including replacements, repairs, and inspections. Recording tire specifications and recommendations for future reference. Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines when working with heavy equipment and vehicles. Ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with industry safety standards and regulations. Regularly inspecting and maintaining tire-fitting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Reporting any faulty or damaged equipment for prompt repair or replacement.

Skills and Qualifications:

Experience in HGV tire fitting or a related field. Knowledge of different types of tires and their applications. Familiarity with tire-fitting tools and equipment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy tires. Understanding of safety regulations and compliance.
