The salary for this role is

Culham, Oxfordshire . This role requires employees to

complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) , including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions. The Role As

Tokamak Ex-Vessel Decommissioning Lead Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in providing technical knowledge and leadership for safe decommissioning of the JET facility and non-active systems. Additional Responsibilities: Efficient leadership of a team of multidisciplinary engineers. Defining and implementing the technical strategy for J1 conventional deplant activities. Leading development of new capabilities required to complete JET decommissioning. Helping to define the make / buy strategy and define specifications for third-party work. Ensuring appropriate safety principles are implemented throughout the programme lifecycle. Providing strategic reviews of the delivery strategy. Approving and reviewing major technical documentation and deliverables. Ensuring safety, quality, and consistency of delivery for the JET decommissioning programme. Managing and mitigating risk to the JET decommissioning programme. Managing delivery to key milestones and KPIs. Promoting the decommissioning programme to stakeholders and suppliers. Managing stakeholders and securing funding for proposed methods of JET decommissioning. Promoting UKAEA mission and values and compliance with policies. Acting as a delegate for senior management. Managing a >£25M programme budget. Managing contracts (£500k) relating to engineering support & decommissioning.

Qualifications Essential Requirements: A track record of delivering successful innovation in the nuclear or related industries. Degree or equivalent experience in engineering or suitable technical discipline. Proven experience of management and design of technical plant or process facilities. Excellent communication skills. Proven line management ability. Ability to influence high-level stakeholders. Proven experience of working with ionising radiation. Additional Health & Safety or Project Management qualifications desirable. Professional registration within chosen profession or area of expertise.

Other Duties: Chair Engineering and Technical Internal Meetings. Memberships of external committees when appropriate. Some UK and international travel. Occasionally enter radiological and beryllium-controlled areas. Represent UKAEA in national and international forums.
