We are looking for a self-motivated and well organised Sonographer with proven ability to work autonomously. As an experienced and competent Sonographer, you will understand the need for a caring and compassionate approach along with attention to detail. You will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of a quality ultrasound service over a 7 day working week.

As a minimum, you will undertake obstetric, gynaecological and abdominal ultrasound examinations providing independent reports - this includes early pregnancy assessment, anomaly and fetal growth obstetric scans in accordance with FASP guidelines, gynaecological emergency, acute surgical admissions and one-stop clinics for haematuria. The service is also delivered across 6 community sites. All Sonographers are expected to rotate through some or all of these sites, and the ability to travel independently between sites and have unrestricted access to a motor vehicle insured for business purposes is required.

We have a Managed Equipment Service with Canon, the main rooms at RCHT being equipped with Canon Aplio 550's with Aplio 450's at the community sites. Imaging archiving is supported by the Insignia PACS system.

This is a part time post working 22.5 hours per week, which will encompass some flexible working at weekends and evenings.

You will have the DMU / PgCert / PgDip or equivalent. Consideration will be given to Sonographers from any professional background. Due to current training commitments we are not able to consider applicants with qualifications which are not CASE-accredited.

About us The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We serve a population of around 500,000 people - a figure that can increase significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year. We employ approximately 6,700 staff and have a budget of approximately £580 million.

We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School.

The Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site is the base for medical and nursing as well as ongoing education for health professions in clinical and non-clinical roles.

Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we are continually developing our clinical services as well as our facilities and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care that can be offered locally. Allied to this is a growing reputation for research and innovation.
