Job Type:PermanentBuild a brilliant future with Hiscox The roleThe Central Underwriting teams are located throughout the UK mainly in our regional central underwriting hubs including Glasgow, Colchester and York. The team forms part of Hiscox UK’s central operations function and are responsible for the technical underwriting of new business and renewals across our broker business.You’ll focus on underwriting existing business for our commercial policies. The role will provide a breadth of development opportunities and exposure to our products, state of the art new underwriting platform and underwriting strategy to allow you to progress into a senior underwriter role.What you’ll be doing:You’ll be underwriting our commercial products in line with our high standardsWorking towards set targets each month including profitability, conversion and productivityDevelop your sales skills and appreciation of sales and underwriting strategy in collaboration with the wider teams and regionsEffectively negotiate with both internal and external parties including identified points of contact with a brokerageChallenging non-standard underwriting decisions leveraging the expertise of product specialists and underwriting managersShowing courage and innovation by spotting process improvements and how we can do things differently to improve the customer experience and drive profitable growthOur must havesYou’ll have min. 2 years’ experience as a commercial lines underwriter with knowledge of Professional Indemnity, exposure to Management Liability and Cyber will be advantageousA logical and analytical thinkerAn excellent communicator with the ability to present and articulate your thinking A natural flair for building relationships enabling you to develop close rapport with brokersBe an ambassador of Hiscox and demonstrate ‘going the extra mile’ dedication and commitment in a fast growing and demanding area of the businessAmbitious and driven, someone who can self-motivate and achieve resultsIdeally Degree qualified and working towards Diploma CII or exempt through relevant experience as defined by the FCADiversity and flexible working at HiscoxAt Hiscox we care about our people.
