Job Summary The UPS Service Engineer will be required to install 3 Phase UPS’s, electrically test and sign off their work. They will also install single phase UPS’s and do annual PM visits across the UK & Ireland, mainly NHS Hospitals or Private Laboratories. This will require driving long distances / flying and staying overnight on certain occasions. Perform troubleshooting and repair on a range of manufactured and distributed products referring to detailed instructions, drawings, schematics and bills of materials. Conduct final quality inspections and test products; field telephone technical support calls; issue return authorization to customers; evaluate returned products for nonconformance’s and report observations and tag and segregate nonconforming products. The Service Engineer will use a variety of hand tools, test equipment, computer programs and machinery to complete the required tasks. Specific Responsibilities Complete all 3 Phase installs and PM’s and depending on location of the Engineer, cover a vast area to complete maintenance and annual PM visits Troubleshoot and evaluate returned manufactured and distributed products and applicable electronic circuitry in the plant and at remote locations Identify and summarize failure modes for quality and engineering purposes Perform telephone technical support and issue return authorization when necessary Properly use equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job defined in work orders Documents actions by completing production and service forms Meets service repair goals on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations Other duties as assigned – you may at certain times be asked to work in the Swindon office for a few days to cover personnel, although it will be very limited Skills/Requirements Level 3 in Electrical Installations 18th Edition Wiring Regs City & Guilds 2391-50 -Level 3 Award in Initial Verification Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form Ability to use and understand Fluke meters, Hipot, oscilloscopes, and variac testers Must be able to work with minimal supervision Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity Ability to take responsibility for quality of work performed Ability to effectively write and read English PCB component level soldering skills Ability to use pallet jacks & forklifts Technical Skills Electrical Installation essential 3 Phase experience UPS knowledge would be beneficial but not essential Experience with a variety of hand tools and machinery used in mechanical and electrical assembly including air and electric power tools Certification to work with high voltage equipment and or Lockout/Tagout Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics, bills of material, and follow test procedures Experience with high voltage equipment Microsoft software knowledge Education/Experience Locally recognized Electronic / Electrical certification or equivalent experience Certification to work with high voltage equipment and or Lockout/Tagout and arc flash training 3 years of experience maintaining/repairing UPS products What we offer you: Competitive salary and 25 days annual leave Generous employer's pension contribution Life assurance Option to join private health plan Enhanced maternity and paternity pay Cycle to work scheme
