The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity available for an Urban Planner to join our team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Team Leader of Land, Planning & Environmental Approvals, you will be delivering planning services to some of the city shaping Level Crossing Removal Projects in Melbourne. We have a range of project opportunities from water to transport – tell us your goals and we’ll help you reach them. You will collaborate with a large multi-disciplinary team and contribute to creative solutions that yield award winning outcomes. Your role will include (but is not limited to) : Preparation of reports such as statutory materials, environmental referrals, permit applications and other approvals in collaboration with the planning team lead or senior urban planner. Managing and securing planning and environmental approvals including planning permit applications and reports, Heritage Act permits and exemptions and strategic planning advice. Provision of statutory planning advice through various project stages (i.e. Development and Delivery). Exercising critical thinking and problem-solving skills to proactively manage project risks in relation to planning and environmental matters. Developing and maintaining good relationships with clients, authorities, community and internal stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. Managing key approvals alongside project / construction timeframes. Engagement and management of planning, environmental and heritage sub-consultants and delivery of technical documentation. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, planners, ecologists, urban designers and other built environment professionals. Who are you? You are a motivated planning professional eager to take on a lead role in Melbourne’s iconic infrastructure projects. You have a proven track record of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and managing planning requirements and risks. You recognize the importance of maintaining professional networks within the company and across the infrastructure industry, building strong relationships with government departments and industry stakeholders. Your Skills and Experience : Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field. 3-7 years of experience as a planner, preferably as a planning consultant. In-depth knowledge and understanding of statutory planning. Proven experience in providing planning advice for major or complex projects. Strong stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Eligibility for membership in a professional association. Why NWPA & KBR?
