Project Engineer - Industrial Department

Altrad Sparrows is looking for a Project Engineer for our Industrial department to be based in Renfrew. This is a permanent and full-time contract of 37.5 hours per week. Main Responsibilities

Project Engineering:

Major function is to provide a comprehensive Project Engineer function within the establishment, encompassing, but not limited to, the following:

Preparation of proposals and tenders. Administration of assigned project files. Liaison with clients and subcontractors. Preparation of calculations and work procedures. Completion of purchase requisitions. Compilation of job close-out reports. Preparation of engineering invoice drafts and financial control of assigned projects.

Business Promotion & Establishment:

To carry out a Project Engineer function within the Industrial Department providing a support function to the establishment in all aspect of project support activities. Contribute to the establishment sales effort, through direct client contact and meetings, with particular focus on target customers as defined within the establishment business plan. Duties encompass the assistance with compilation and cost control of the business unit budgets and, in conjunction with the Business Manager. Contribute to quarterly performance reviews with line management regarding the department’s services to enable accurate review of business unit performance. When undertaking visits to client establishments, promote and maintain effective communications with Client representatives and Altrad Sparrows personnel.

Business Administration:

Provide an administration and technical support function to the business unit for all service area activities. Responsible for assisting with the regular and correct compilation and condition monitoring of information relating to all aspects of the allocated projects.

HSEQ Responsibilities:

It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company’s HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager. The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential: HNC/HND, BSc or BEng (Hons) within a relevant discipline, or time served with hands-on experience, within a relevant trade. Excellent communication skills to enable effective liaison with clients, vendors and other members of staff. Effective in dealing with commercial and management aspects of the role. Careful and meticulous professional and a motivated self-starter. Good technical writing skills, and proficient use of MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel etc). Desirable: To have attained or working towards a professional accreditation with an appropriate institute. Previous experience with cranes and lifting equipment. Previous experience in heavy plant and/or maintenance environment. Experience within a project engineering environment. About Altrad Sparrows
