Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Band 6 Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Join us in leading the way at Cheltenham General Hospital Urology Department, now located in a state-of-the-art facility featuring 10 clinic rooms. Here, collaboration is key, with Consultants, Administration and the Managerial team all working side by side.

We're looking for a Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist to support patients through their initial assessment, diagnostic testing, treatment and follow up for bladder renal, penile and testicular cancers. Main duties of the job

Supporting patients with confirmed Bladder, Renal and Testicular Cancers

Acts as a source of support and information for patients with confirmed cancer

Refer for testing where appropriate as part of surveillance protocols

Refer for Senior review where straight to test is not appropriate or there is a change in their condition

Share test results with patients and explain the next steps of investigation or treatment

Undertakes research activities and leads clinical audits in own specialist area.

Communicates with a range of other staff of all disciplines, acting as a highly specialist resource including liaison with health care providers both within and outside of the Trust regarding diagnosis and treatment advice.

The Urology Team is made of 13 Consultants, 8 Clinical Nurse Specialists and 2 Cancer Support Workers along with a specialist administrative team to support the patient journey and experience, which has been enhanced by the move to a new Urology Department on Alstone Clinic.

Person Specification Essential and Desirable

Evidence of ongoing professional development and clinical experience

Advanced Communications skills course

Evidence of managing cancer patients' complex needs

Able to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to area of practice

Specialist clinical skills and experience within either Urology or Oncology

Active registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse

Demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence clinical practice, management, education and research
