About the role: We are seeking a highly experienced and talented Senior User Researcher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a profound background in user research, with highly demonstrable skills in planning and leading user research activities. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in an agile environment working with other user-centred practitioners.

At this level you will:

Have highly demonstrable experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams. Have highly demonstrable evidence in quantitative and qualitative research methods. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in an agile environment and can drive the design process from research to execution.

You'll be responsible for:

Leading and collaborating with other professionals in a multi-disciplinary team to improve the user experience and outcomes for users. Engaging and communicating effectively with senior stakeholders. Driving a user-centred design approach to consistently meet user needs. Aligning design vision and activities in partnership with fellow designers, product managers, and engineering peers. Utilising both qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions. Planning, organising, and running user research sessions. Ensuring consideration for accessibility and inclusion. Skills needed for this role:

Analysis and synthesis:

Help teams apply a range of methods to analyse research data and synthesise findings. Engage sceptical colleagues in analysis and synthesis. Advise on choice and application of techniques, and critique colleagues' findings to assure best practice. Inclusive research:

Help teams understand the diversity of users of government services. Include all kinds of users in appropriate research activities. Advocate for inclusive practices and help teams design and deliver accessible services that work for all users. Research skills:

Assist teams in adopting a wide range of user research methods. Plan user research for services with challenging user needs and complex user journeys. Advise colleagues on the choice and application of research methods to assure best practice. Society and technology:

Understand the social and technological context for government services. Align user research activities to help your team understand changing user behaviour. Strategic insight:

Understand what problem the team is trying to solve. Align user research activities to inform decision making and action. Technical understanding:

Have knowledge about the technologies used to build and operate digital services. Collaborate closely with colleagues in different digital disciplines. User-centred and agile practices:

Have experience of a range of user-centred practices. Help inexperienced teams adopt user-centred practices and embed them into their agile workflow. Advocate for user research and engage sceptical colleagues and stakeholders.
