The role will work in the Operations team with the primary focus and the majority of utility systems on the Middlesbrough site though requires some input at the Billingham site where appropriate.

Ensure safe, reliable and efficient management of the Middlesbrough Site plant utilities. Effluent & Drains, Hot Oil, Steam Boilers, Cooling Water, Instrument Air and Nitrogen supply.

Ensure utilities are used efficiently and strive to consistently identify & implement improvement activities.

Works with Plant Managers to minimize disruption to site operations and drive improvements to site energy efficiencies towards the company goal of net zero emissions utility systems. Works with Technical Advisers and other plant personnel to optimise operations to meet Business and plant goals (EH&S, Production, cost, quality, energy, reliability). Provides leadership and direction in the day-to-day decision making for the operating area of responsibility. Participates in advanced troubleshooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Ensures findings are documented for future use. Participates on and leads teams in their area of accountability. Networks with Plant Managers across the sites to leverage knowledge on plant operations, including optimum use of resources (including utilities). Works with Tech Advisors to ensure utility systems are operating to the highest standard and efficiency, driving improvements to reliability and minimizing downtime. Ensures all relevant procedures for their operation are up to date and being adhered to. Provides Leadership for Energy Efficiency projects, regularly identifying and implementing energy saving projects. Provides Leadership for Waste Minimisation projects, regularly identifying and implementing such projects across the Middlesbrough site. As required, communicates technical information and issues to plant personnel. Follows up & investigates unplanned events, identifies actions to prevent re-occurrence. Manages third party contractors e.g. water treatment. Liaises with off-site supply companies e.g. National Grid & Northumbrian Water. Continuous improvement of issued instructions e.g. SOPs. Manages minor projects to improve ageing assets. Issues permits as required for area of knowledge. Facilitates utility shutdown meetings and coordinates resource/responsibility/activities. • Hands-on utility systems experience in the chemical industry or a similar sector. • Credible and confident communication skills. • Good organisational and planning skills. • Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time. • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines with minimal supervision. • Good attention to detail and accuracy. • Excellent I.T. skills. • Must have a full UK driving license. • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
