9 November 2022 Fixed Term We are seeking a new team member to join the Film conservation team of the BFI National Archive in the role of Conservation Specialist (focusing on digital), on a fixed term basis until the 31st of March 2023. The role of the Conservation department is primarily to preserve, conserve, and restore. Our conservators and specialist technicians help make our collections safe and accessible for future generations. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with quality control, verification, documentation, and ingest processes of the diverse range of audio-visual digital files that are associated with the BFI Film Restoration & Remastering Projects, ensuring they meet agreed quality and documentation standards prior to their ingest into the BFI Digital Preservation Infrastructure. Providing regular and disciplined media management of central and local storage, working closely with relevant colleagues and project teams to ensure that digital media is well managed, available, and long-term preserved. We are looking for candidates who have: Experience working with a wide range of digital audiovisual formats, equipment, and software in a moving image archive, laboratory, or post-production environment. A passion for and knowledge of past archival and film production practices and techniques. The ability to work constructively, proactively, and flexibly both as an individual and as part of a team; helping develop the team by sharing information and knowledge; supporting and assisting other team members to achieve team goals.
