25 March 2021 Colchester Fixed Term The UK Data Archive is the lead organisation of the UK Data Service, which provides unified access to regional, national and international social and economic data, support for policy-relevant research, and guidance and training for the development of skills in data curation and use. This post forms part of the UK Data Service Digital Preservation, Systems & Security team based at the UK Data Archive. Duties of the Role The primary purpose of this post is to manage our role in the FAIRsFAIR project (https://www.fairsfair.eu/), which is developing practices for ensuring that data are findable, accessible, interoperable, and re-usable (FAIR) towards the development of a European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). This pivotal role will manage standards and best practice development, mentor support in achieving trustworthy digital repository status through the CoreTrustSeal, and lead on the development of a network of trusted repositories. The role will lead on information development and coordination, manage our interactions with the project, supported repositories, and UK, European and Global data management organisations. The applicant will define and deliver best practice information and change management solutions within the UK Data Service based on a range of underlying standards including the OAIS reference model and TDR Requirements (CoreTrustSeal, ISO16363, etc.). The role provides leadership within the technical services team in designing and documenting processes and systems that can be used as examples for repository best practice. Qualifications and Skills Required In order to be considered for this position, you must hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent (BA, BSc) or equivalent relevant experience in the areas of research infrastructure, repositories, preservation data use, and data curation. You will have experience in leading and administering projects, meetings, and events. Candidates should have the ability to research to integrate and deliver information from multiple sources, including designing and running reports and preparing information and data for management use. We are looking for an individual who is IT literate, ideally with experience of technical information systems, workflows, licensing, and contracts. You should possess excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a busy environment and be confident in dealing with internal and external staff at all levels.
