Vehicle Maintenance Controller Assistant - Permanent

Location – Oldbury (office based)

Salary : £30,500.00

Shifts : Start at 05:45 to 14:30 and 12:30 to 21:30 – two shifts. Working 5 days on and 3 days off.

Rotation of shifts 3 earlies and 2 lates.

This is the job

As our Vehicle Maintenance Control Assistant , you will assist with operating the AA commercial fleet.

Joining a close team of 8 other Assistants and supporting the Maintenance Controllers, you'll be working to proactively maintain compliance as well as optimising vehicle and patrol availability for the Recovery business.

You'll achieve this via effective daily planning and management of the available resources. You will also handle inbound and outbound calls with managers, patrols and suppliers, working to challenging deadlines in a busy operational environment.

What will I be doing?
  • Completing daily vehicle compliance checks
  • Analysing, populating and maintaining Systems and databases, following the set processes The AA has within the Recovery Operation Logistics department.
  • You'll ensure that all legislative areas of fleet vehicle maintenance, and drivers' movements are in line with our commercial transport operation
  • You will enable complete visibility of vehicles and people 24/7 for our AA Recovery Business
  • Assisting and monitoring daily downtime management and control repairs progress with suppliers, escalation where appropriate
  • You'll be supporting the Vehicle Maintenance controllers in returning vehicles back to operation to enable resource planning
  • Liaising with AA Fleet and Enterprise Fleet departments with regards to vehicle locations, drivers, vehicle records and relevant documentation i.e. MOT Certificates and Servicing Records
  • Supporting the team with all administration and paperwork, including, post outs, booking rooms, courses, communications etc.
What do I need?
  • You'll be IT savvy and have proven experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Outlook
  • Previous administration experience is a must, with examples of where you have demonstrated strong attention to detail and have had to manage changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills both written and on the telephone
  • Experience of working in a Transport Office is desirable as is knowledge of Road Transport Regulations, and current legislation around vehicle maintenance
