Veterinary Surgeon

We are a small animal and equine practice in the beautiful countryside of South Cumbria, proudly independent and we are going to stay that way! That’s why we are established members of the Vet Dynamics community and we were delighted that our hard work was recognised when we won the 2023 Dynamic Achievement Award! The whole team are involved in our development program and feel empowered to make decisions and share ideas. In 2019, we moved to our impressive premises in Lindale, and we were proud to receive the runner-up award in the British Veterinary Hospital Association Design Awards 2019. Being independent allows us to reinvest in the practice to provide the best possible facilities for patients, clients and staff. We recently purchased the new version 2 Adaptix 3D Xray – only the 5th unit in a UK veterinary practice. We have our own Physiotherapy Centre, with ACPAT Physiotherapist, and offer comprehensive physio, hydrotherapy, laser and acupuncture services. We offer in-house orthopaedic surgery, and this enables great follow-up care. We are also an ISFM Gold Cat-Friendly practice. We are passionate about personal development and actively encourage our team to enhance their skills and follow their interests, including supporting certificates or additional training. We use VVS (Virtual Veterinary Specialists) a virtual ultrasonography referral service which enables us to keep the majority of cases in-house and also provides fantastic CPD whilst developing ultrasound skills. Consults are 20 minutes each, with further time allocated for admin work. We have a fantastic nursing team of 8 RVNs and 2 SVNs, who are crucial in supporting our vets in providing the highest standards of patient care, including out of hours, which greatly eases the on call vet’s workload. We also have a lovely client care team who have all been with us for between 8-30 years and keep everything running smoothly. The position is full time, 5 days 9am-6pm with a half day off per week. A 4 day week could be considered. We provide our own out-of-hours service, which is generally quiet. A dedicated answering machine means you’ll only be called when needed. There is also an RVN on call 24/7, and they stay on-site overnight to provide inpatient care. Our fixed 1:5 rolling OOHs rota means you can easily plan your life outside work. Your weekend on call is 9am Saturday morning until 8.30 am Monday, then the Monday off. You will be on-call one weeknight each week, and every 5th week, this will be a Friday followed by Saturday morning consults (9-12). We have an amazing supportive team that are all genuinely involved in enabling Archway to provide the best veterinary care around. Outside of work we have social events that everyone enjoys, especially the summer BBQ and rounders match! Whilst being located on the shore of Morecambe Bay we are only 10min from Lake Windermere itself so get the best of both worlds. There really is no better location if you enjoy outdoor pursuits.
