About Us

The surgery at Minehead is our 'home premises'. It is the base for our companion animal team, made up of 7 vets, 6 qualified nurses, 2 trainee nurses, 1 Veterinary care assistant and the office team. The facilities here include a car park, spacious waiting room with separate dog and cat areas and four private consult rooms.

We are an RCVS accredited and nurse training practice, housed in a modern, air-conditioned, purpose-built premises that have recently been renovated. Our facilities include dedicated dog and cat wards, an imaging room with DR x-ray, a dental room with dedicated x-ray, and a lab.

We pride ourselves on our low staff turnover and a good range of experience. Our comprehensive paper library and Vetstream subscription ensure our team stays informed and up-to-date. We also hold BVA and BSAVA memberships, and cover RCVS registration fees.

The Role

We are looking for a full or part-time small animal vet. This role is suitable for both new graduates and experienced vets. New or recent graduates will benefit from a named mentor and rota’d out-of-hours support. You will have clinical freedom to manage your cases as you see fit, with strong support from colleagues.

Our practice also includes a farm/equine team, allowing for shared expertise and equipment. We welcome mixed candidates with a small animal bias. CPD is fully funded, and certificates are encouraged. There is an OOH bonus per client seen, and all calls are handled by a call center, so no direct client calls. A nurse is on call at all times. We fully support and encourage CPD and professional interests.

The Package

1 in 4 on call rota. ** Nights soon to be outsourced **

On call not unreasonably busy, with full back up provided for new graduates

Day off in lieu of weekend work

9-5 day working (unless on call)

At least 15 min consults, x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound, etc.

25 days holiday per year plus share of bank holidays

Short term accommodation can be provided if needed

Salary ranges from £35,000 for new graduates, increasing commensurate with experience.
