Veterinary Surgeon Job Description

Our beautiful standalone Stafford practice is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their clinical team paying up to £65,000 (FTE, DOE). You would join a very experienced vet team who can support your development, including one vet with a certificate in cardiology. This is ideally a full-time role of 38.5 hours per week; however, we know that finding that work-life balance is important, so if you are looking for a different rota, please do speak with us and we will try to accommodate. No OOH, Sunday, and no bank holidays! (except for Good Friday). This role would be a great fit for someone with a surgical bias but would equally suit a good all-rounder. CPD and Certificates are highly encouraged and can be funded. About Us

With more than 440 small animal practices across the country, Vets for Pets is one of the largest UK veterinary groups and offers Veterinary Surgeons a range of opportunities, including the opportunity to run your own practice. However, what really makes Vets for Pets unique is that it is run locally, providing our local teams with the time and opportunity to support their local pet-owning community. This means you join a team that is run by the people who work there and understand how to deliver the best service to their clients and their pets! What our patients say about us:

"Vets 4 pets is such a contrast and they show a genuine care for pets. Absolutely brilliant!" "If I could give 10, I would. Amazing friendly service, and so quick as well…. I cannot recommend this place enough; you are truly an amazing surgery" "Cannot rate this practice highly enough. Always greeted with a friendly face and the staff always act in a professional manner… Mellinda and her staff offer an excellent, affordable and reliable service but most importantly, they genuinely care about the animals in their care. Would most certainly recommend this practice." Our RCVS accredited, purpose-built, and spacious standalone practice is located in central Stafford with excellent direct transport links to Birmingham, London, and Manchester and has Cannock Chase (an AONB) nearby. The practice has high spec ultrasound, digital x-ray, latest IDEXX in-house laboratory, dental machine, and dedicated theatre. You will be joining a clinical team consisting of 4 experienced veterinarians and 6 RVNs, along with an excellent support staff of 6 receptionists. We have a very happy working environment and all pride ourselves on the high level of service that we offer to both our clients and their pets. We have a strong belief in clinical freedom and case continuity and have regular case discussions to help and support each other with the more challenging cases. We have visiting surgical specialists attend the practice to allow us to handle more complex cases in-house. The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced full-time veterinary surgeon to become part of our friendly, supportive, and professional team. Our ideal candidate will be confident in routine small animal medical and surgical cases and will enjoy building strong relationships with our clients. You will ideally have the ability to work some sole charge. The role includes a 1 in 3 Saturdays on a rota basis (9am-2pm) with no on-call or OOH. For this you will receive:

A generous salary up to £65,000 (DOE, FTE). Support with CPD and certificates. Paid RCVS and VDS cover. Exclusive company discounts including at least 20% off across the Pets at Home group. If you would like to hear more about working with us, please contact Rach on

Rachael.bury@vets4pets.com

and we will get back to you within 1 working day, or call the practice on 01785 228333 for more information. Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves, so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
