Are you looking to join a supportive team who prioritise patient care? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you at our Wigan Vets for Pets practice!

Wigan is in the Northwest of England, just under an hour away from two vibrant cities, Manchester, and Liverpool. It is the perfect location if you enjoy the city life in your free time. Or, if you prefer the outdoors, the countryside including areas like Rivington Pike are only half an hour away. The practice itself is northwest of the town centre on the outskirts and is a standalone surgery surrounded by local amenities and public transport links.

We are looking for that special someone to join our team! We are looking for a veterinary surgeon to complement our already fantastic team of 4 vets, 8 RVNs, 5 receptionists and 3 VCAs. Although we are ideally looking for a full time vet to work 4 days a week, we are flexible bosses and would be open to discussion regarding hours and rota. There is no OOH and 1:5 Saturdays.

We are a busy practice with an interesting caseload and we are looking for a real team player who prioritises patient care and who aims to provide gold standard for their patients and clients.

One of our clinicians is working towards their Certificates in Surgery and we actively encourage and fund CPD. We run 20-30 minutes consults in practice alongside nurse led consults and have admin time for our colleagues built into our diary each day, to ensure that everyone leaves on time for a great work/life balance.

Alongside our talented vets we have an amazing team of nurses who are highly skilled and highly motivated, and especially focussed on gold standard patient care, evidenced based medicine and auditing practices and protocols. Our nursing team boast 3 advanced diploma nurses, a Nursing Cert holder in Anaesthesia, an ECC nurse and a ISFM Feline Nurse.

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who has experience in practice and enjoys working with other Vets to create new ideas. In practice we have the caseload to support personal and clinical development and we are open to you exploring your own caseloads in practice, assisted by the generous CPD allowance we provide.

In addition to the CPD allowance, we also offer a competitive salary which is based on your level of experience that you can bring to the team, a contributory pension scheme, all professional memberships paid, and access to our exclusive reward hub which provides discounts for high street retailers, as well as companywide discounts.

If this opportunity interests you, please get in touch for an informal chat or email

Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
